COB PRESS RELEASE: Brooksville Fire Department will Consolidate with HCFR on October 1, 2025

Brooksville, Florida (September 17, 2025) – City of Brooksville Fire Department services will consolidate with Hernando County Fire Rescue on October 1, 2025. Beginning that date, Hernando County Fire Rescue will provide all fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, and related emergency services within the municipal boundaries of the City.

The discussion and vote on the consolidation took place at a regular City Council meeting on Monday, September 15, 2025. Both a recording of the meeting and the supporting documentation are available on the City of Brooksville website at brooksvillefl.new.swagit.com/videos/355420.

The City of Brooksville Fire Department and Hernando County Fire Rescue are actively working together to ensure a smooth transition, with the safety of Brooksville and Hernando residents remaining the highest priority.
