This is a supervisory position requiring the application of planning, organizing, and leading. Reports to the Utilities Superintendent the progress of activities through written reports and meetings. This position is responsible for supervising crew schedules, production, quality control, and implementing compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The incumbent must be able to function independently in decisions relating to the construction, repair and maintenance of the City's drinking water, wastewater collection, and water reuse systems. Will be called out in emergencies, scheduled to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. This position is supervised by the Utilities Superintendent or designee.

This position requires working knowledge of auto mechanics. medium/heavy truck mechanics, welding and fabrication, and some construction equipment and small engine repair. The incumbent is charged with the responsibility in repair and maintenance of City's vehicles and equipment. This position requires thorough knowledge of welding methods and procedures to safely do the job. The primary objective is to utilize periodic maintenance and inspections along with quality repairs to maximize availability and minimize the overall life cycle costs of the City's moving equipment. This is an advanced position responsible for enforcing the Laws of the Federal Government, State of Florida and City of Brooksville Code of Ordinances. Duties include, but are not limited to, modern patrol techniques including a working knowledge of Community policing practices, line supervisory skills, defensive tactics, traffic control, police vehicle safety, firearms, investigations, first responder techniques. Advanced legal knowledge of criminal justice system and courtroom procedures required , along with daily public contact requiring tact, courtesy and interpersonal communication skills. Supplemental academic incentive pay for eligible employees. Education: High School Diploma or GED, Florida State Certified Law Enforcement Officer. Minimum of two (2) years of sworn police officer experience in the State of Florida or five (5) years out of state experience with Florida Certification. The selected candidate will undergo a Standardized Field Training program earning $17.00 per hour, with benefits. Upon successful completion of the program, the candidate will earn $17.56 - $19.00 per hour, with benefits, DOQ.

Must be able to successfully complete all training requirements including the State required police academy curriculum, field training program, periodic in-service training and weaponry qualifications and a one-year probationary period. Must be either a Florida State certified law enforcement officer, a graduate of a Florida police academy having passes the Florida State Officer Certification Exam, or a certified officer from another state who completes the Florida State Equivalency course.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Florida Class E Driver's license and be insurable by the City's insurance carrier.
