Highly responsible administrative and clerical support position responsible for preparing, processing and retaining official City minutes, records, contracts/agreements, documents, public records and files for the City of Brooksville.  Must be able to prepare and transcribe formal meeting minutes.  Primary functions are directed through and supervised by City Manager.  Minimum job standards include: Associates degree from an accredited college or university. 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible administrative/clerical experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities listed within the position’s job description, with proficiency in office/administrative computer software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). This position installs, repairs and maintains water and sewer system components, according to City standards and regulations; ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. This position requires mechanical aptitude to exercise good independent judgment. Subject to call out in emergencies, scheduled to work nights, weekends and/or holidays, or may be scheduled to work on-call duty. This position is supervised by the Crew Leader with ultimate oversight by the Public Works Supervisor. This is an advanced position responsible for enforcing the Laws of the Federal Government, State of Florida and City of Brooksville Code of Ordinances. Duties include, but are not limited to, modern patrol techniques including a working knowledge of Community policing practices, line supervisory skills, defensive tactics, traffic control, police vehicle safety, firearms, investigations, first responder techniques. Advanced legal knowledge of criminal justice system and courtroom procedures required , along with daily public contact requiring tact, courtesy and interpersonal communication skills. A Sanitation Collector loads/unloads solid waste/recyclables to and from sanitation vehicles. The person in this job will be expected to safely perform manual tasks with speed and efficiency. This person works under the daily authority of a Sanitation Operator (vehicle driver) who will assign duties needed to complete daily collection routes. This person will be responsible for cleaning and maintenance of sanitation vehicles and dumpsters. Job performance will be based on compliance with established guidelines, satisfactory performance of required job duties and schedules set by the Department. The Brooksville Police Department, a Florida Accredited Law Enforcement Agency, is accepting applications from those interested candidates that are Florida Certified, or those that meet the E.O.T qualifications.

The selected candidate will undergo a Standardized Field Training program earning $17.00 per hour, with benefits. Upon successful completion of the program, the candidate will earn $17.56 - $19.00 per hour, with benefits, DOQ.

Benefits: 2184/12 hour shift schedule, 10 vacation days, 10 sick days (yearly sick buyback plan) and 12 paid holidays per year; employee medical, dental and life insurance plan; 185 pension plan, (6 year vest, 1% paid by employee, 4% multiplier); "take home" police vehicle upon completion of FTO, as per City distance limitations/policy..

Minimum Education & Experience: Must be at least 19 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Graduate from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Must not  have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor involving perjury or the making of false claims; must not have received a other than Honorable/Dishonorable discharge from any of the armed forces in the United States. Must pass a physical examination with a drug screen; must demonstrate good moral character. Must successfully compete a background investigation, including a polygraph examination and physical agility test. Must be able to successfully complete all training requirements including the State required police academy curriculum, field training program, periodic in-service training and weaponry qualifications and a one-year probationary period. Must be either a Florida State certified law enforcement officer, a graduate of a Florida police academy having passes the Florida State Officer Certification Exam, or a certified officer from another state who completes the Florida State Equivalency course.

Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Florida Class E Driver's license and be insurable by the City's insurance carrier.
