Proclamation – Honoring Theresa Wujick Print

altDuring the May 1, 2017 Council Meeting, a Proclamation was presented to Theresa Wujick, a resident of Hernando County who turned 102 years old on April 30, 2017. Ms. Wujick, her family and friends were very happy for her to have received the recognition.


Margaret R. Ghiotto Beautification Award - Commercial Award Print

altThe Margaret R. Ghiotto Beautification Commercial Award was presented to Mountaineer Coffee for improvements made at the location.  The award was accepted by owners Daniel and Darby Pritz. Mountaineer Coffee is located at 26 South Broad Street, Brooksville, Florida 34601.  The Pritz’ love the City of Brooksville and the downtown area and were very appreciative of the recognition.

Margaret R. Ghiotto Beautification Award - Residential Award Print


The Margaret R. Ghiotto Beautification Residential Award was presented to Delma France-Kitchen for improvements made to the property located at 443 Bell Avenue, Brooksville, Florida 34601.  Ms. Kitchen’s was thankful for the recognition.

Call for Art Print


The colors Red, White and Blue should appear in the piece, and it must be fun and creative. The artwork must be submitted on August 5, 2017 between the hours of 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

All subjects and mediums are welcome, including 3-D art.  Student art is encouraged.  Photography, Jewelry, Woodworking, Poetry, Pencil Arts, Multi-media, Sculpture, Fine Arts, Oils, Acrylics, Pastels, Watercolor, etc.

All art should be gallery ready to hang with wire on the back of the pictures.  Also, a card attached to the back of  the artwork with the medium, the artist's name, and price of the artwork. There will be a artist's reception on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.  The public will be invited.

Arbor Day Print


The City of Brooksville's Beautification Board and City Council Members hosted this year's Arbor Day.  The event was held at the Countryman Family One-Room School House.

In honor of National Arbor Day, Hernando High School's Project Looking Ahead Program students created poster art themed "What is Arbor Day and What Does It Mean to our Community?"

Students and City Staff participated in two tree plantings.  Trees were generously donated by Stewart's Tree Service.


Small Business Week Print

altCity Council presented a proclamation declaring May 1 - 7, 2017 as Small Business Week.  Dr. Dennis Wilfong, Ambassador of Commerce and Employment accepted the proclamation.  Dr. Wilfong was very appreciative of the recognition and thanked Council for the opportunity to serve as the Ambassador of Commerce and Employment. He encouraged all to attend the Hernando Chamber of Commerce Summit that is scheduled for May 19, 2017. 

Volunteer Appreciation Reception Print


On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, the City of Brooksville held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception.  This reception recognizes individuals who graciously donate their time and talents to the City of Brooksville. This year the City was very fortunate to have approximately 122 volunteers who provided valuable service to our community. Volunteers are vital to our future, their untiring work and dedication is greatly appreciated.
