Constitution Week - September 17 - 23, 2017 Print

City Council proclaimed the week of September 17 - 23, 2017 as "Constitution Week".  At their meeting on September 18, 2017, the Proclamation was presented to Susan Gundersen on behalf of the DAR Winding Waters Chapter.

 
Volunteer City Advisory Board Openings Print

Please volunteer and get involved in your community!  The City Council for the City of Brooksville is now accepting applications from individuals interested in volunteering their time to serve as a member of the following advisory boards or commissions:

Brooksville Housing Authority Board - one alternate position (four year term of office) through 2021

NOTE: To apply for a board position, please download and complete the Advisory Board ApplicationYou may enclose a resume with your application; however a resume without the application will not be accepted. A criminal background check is completed on all applicants prior to submission to the City Council for appointment. Police Department Receives Re-Accreditation Print

On June 21, 2017 the Brooksville Police Department was honored to receive Re-Accreditation from the Commission For Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, (CFA).

July is Parks and Recreation Month Print

At their meeting on July 6, 2017, City Council declared July as "Parks and Recreation Month" within the City of Brooksville.  Parks Director, Mike Walker, along with Parks staff and several "friends of the park" where on hand to receive the proclamation.

 
Council honors Jerome Brown and Augustus Brown Print

At their meeting on June 19, 2017, City Council honored the memory of Brooksville natives, Jerome Brown and Augustus Brown, who both passed away tragically on June 25, 1992, 25 years ago.   After graduating from Hernando High, where Jerome achieved many athletic awards in three sports, he was a star player with the University of Miami and inducted into their football Hall of Fame.  Being a first round (ninth pick overall) NFL draft pick in 1987, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles.  Jerome Brown was a star player for the Eagles, a beloved teammate and made his hometown Brooksville proud.  The proclamation was presented to Jerome's sister, Cynthia Jackson, surrounded by many friends and family members.

 
Moton High School Reunion - Classes of 1942 - 1968 Print

Moton High School's graduating classes of 1942 - 1968 will be holding their annual reunion from June 23 - 25, 2017 at 835 School Street in Brooksville, Fl.   At their meeting on June 5, 2017, City Council honored the occasion by presenting a proclamation to the alumni of Moton High School.  The proclamation was by accepted by Cynthia Williams, alumni member and president of the reunion committee.
